Rave Review from NYTheatre.com:
By Danny Bowes (click to read whole review)
Heterosexuals is a slightly misleading and gnomic title for blogger/playwright Lee Papa's new show, now performing at The Cherry Pit. It implies a specificity and narrowness of scope, that the play is somehow limited in subject to those boring old-fashioned (but not, as some theatergoers might at times think, apocryphal) male-female types. The character names indicate otherwise: the married couple are named only "He" and "She" and the wife's friend with whom the husband cheats is simply named the "Other." Here we have universality, and here Heterosexuals begins to reveal itself as, over the course of its concise hour and twenty minutes, a bold, brutally honest look at monogamy, infidelity, and the desperation of being single...

While Heterosexuals may not be for theatregoers squeamish about language (thankfully not a problem for me, just warning sensitive types who can't handle the c-word), it is definitely a show to be seen if you like your comedy with a healthy dose of truth and insight, and if you like your truth and insight presented in an articulate and funny manner.

Heterosexuals

a new comedy

by Lee Papa

The New York International Fringe Festival - Fringe NYC
A production of the Present Company
August 13th - 29th
Tickets: $15-$18. For tickets, visit www.FringeNYC.org

Up Top Productions and the Rude Pundit are proud to present Heterosexuals as part of the 14th annual New York International Fringe Festival - Fringe NYC. The world premiere of this new comedy by Lee Papa will run at the Cherry Pit at 155 Bank Street.

A man and a woman enter an apartment and make sexy small talk. Then the woman invites the man to touch her. And we’re off into Heterosexuals, a scathing, obscene, and erotic comedy about how much we just want to fuck and about how, when, where, and with whom we do it.

Heterosexuals
is written by Lee Papa, whose last play at Fringe NYC, The Year of Living Rudely, sold out before it opened and prompted Margo Jefferson in the New York Times to call Papa “a tornado of a writer” and “a child of Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor and Hunter S. Thompson.”

Papa’s political blog, The Rude Pundit, has tens of thousands of weekly readers, and he is a weekly guest on radio’s Stephanie Miller Show. Now, the Rude Pundit takes on sexual politics with this excoriating look at adult lust in the 21st century.

The show stars Jeff Kreisler, Anne Teutschel, and Elizabeth McNelis. Kreisler is the writer and performer of Get Rich Cheating, also featured at this year’s Fringe NYC. Teutschel was just seen in Sally’s Rape at Scientific Soul Sessions in Harlem.

Up Top Productions’ political satire The Americans, featuring Kreisler and Teutschel, was a hit at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The company is producing both Heterosexuals and Get Rich Cheating at this year’s Fringe NYC.
